Artistic Mentorship

Alongside practical tuition, I offer individual mentoring sessions for those who want to develop their own ideas and find their way forward as an artist.

For adult students, these sessions are about connecting the skills you are learning with what you actually want to say. We will explore your ideas, discuss possible directions, consider which medium or approach might work best, and work out how to move forward when you feel stuck. The aim is to help you turn your ideas into something tangible, while developing greater confidence in your own artistic decisions.

Sessions can be used to develop a particular project, explore a new direction, resolve a problem in your work, or simply talk through what you want to make next.

I also offer one-to-one guidance for students preparing portfolios, GCSE or A-Level coursework, helping them develop ideas, make informed artistic choices and articulate their intentions with greater clarity.

People rarely want to just learn how to draw or paint. What they really want is “to explore their creativity”. They want to learn the tools to express themselves, voice their ideas in a visual language and/or understand their inner world better.

The world of art is so vast that it’s easy to get lost, not knowing where to even begin to explore.

This is where mentorship can help. Starting from your interests, questions and ideas, we find the directions that are meaningful to you. Different approaches and ways of working open up new possibilities, while the right skills give you the freedom to explore them. Over time, this becomes a process of discovering and developing your own visual language.

My role is not to tell you what your art should look like, but to help you see what is already there and guide you towards developing it further.
